The Detroit Tigers have re-signed free agent starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez. It's a five year $80 million deal and matches a similar offer from the Chicago Cubs. The Tigers reportedly had initially offered four year and $48 million but Sanchez's agent offered the Tigers a chance to match the deal-- and they did.
The Tigers now may trade starter Rick Porcello for help at other positions. The Tigers projected starting rotation for 2013 will consist of Justini Verlander, Max Scherzer, Doug Fister, Sanchez and Drew Smyley.
