The Detroit Tigers blew a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 9th inning Wednesday and lost 3-2 to the Royals in Kansas City in 10 innings. It ruined a seven inning shutout performance by Justin Verlander. Jose Valverde, with two out and an 0-2 count on Lorenzo Cain, gave up a two run homer to tie the game, Cain's third homer of the season. Eric Hosmer then hit a two out RBI single in the bottom of the tenth off Phil Coke to win it. The Tigers have Friday off and open a series at Minnesota on Friday night. Kansas City has now won seven of its last eight games.
