Tigers Lose McClendon to Seattle

Lloyd McClendon is the new manager of the Seattle Mariners. The 54-year old McClendon gets a multi year deal after serving as hitting coach the past six seasons with the Detroit Tigers. McClendon replaces the fired Eric Wedge. Seattle has not made the playoffs in 12 years and has had eight managers since Lou Piniella stepped down following the 2002 season. McClendon managed the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2001 through 26 games of the 2005 season.
