Tigers Hold Off Toronto

Max Scherzer pitched seven innings and gave up just one run leading the Detroit Tigers to a 5-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays Tuesday night at Comerica Park. It was the first of a three game series. Scherzer is now 13-7. Jose Valverde pitched the ninth inning without giving up a run. The Tigers drove in their five runs without using any base hits. Game two is Wednesday night at 7:05 and DeWitt's Jordyn Wieber will throw out the first pitch.
