Tigers Beat the Blue Jays

Jhonny Peralta hit his first home run of the spring and Rick Porcello allowed four his and two runs in five innings to help the Detroit Tigers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 4-2 Friday in Lakeland. Porcello, competing with Drew Smyly for the final berth in the Tigers' pitching rotation, struck out four. He allowed Andy LaRoche's solo homer to Andy LaRoche in the second inning. Peralta lifted his spring training average to .194 with his second inning blast off Ricky Romero. Austin Jackson hit a double and triple to raise his average to .223. Prince Fielder had a single and double.
