Tigers Beat Tampa Bay

Max Scherzer improved his pitching record to 8-0 Thursday leading the Detroit Tigers to a 5-2 win over the visiting Tampa Bay Rays. The Tigers won two out of three in the series and now host the second place Cleveland Indians for three games beginning Friday night. Scherzer pitched into the 7th inning. Jose Valverde recorded his seventh save. Victor Martinez hit a two run homer, his fourth of the season. The Tigers improve to 32-25 for a season record.
