The neon "Tiger Stadium" sign that went up in 1961 on the old ballpark at Michigan and Trumbull has a new home at the Detroit Historical Museum.
The relit sign was installed Tuesday in the museum's Allesee Gallery of Culture.
Museum spokesman Bob Sadler says the sign was acquired before the 2009 demolition of Tiger Stadium. The Tigers played their last game at the stadium in 1999 and moved to Comerica Park the following year.
Bennett Park stood on the old Tiger Stadium site from 1901 to 1911 before Navin Field was built.
Navin Field was the name from 1912 to 1937 and Briggs Stadium from 1938 to 1960. It was renamed Tiger Stadium after the Briggs family sold the team.
