Syracuse Expected to Promote Assistant to Head Coach

Syracuse University is expected to name assistant Scott Shafer as head football coach on Thursday. Shafer is a former assistant at Michigan. The Orange went 8-5 this last season with four straight wins at the end of the season. Doug Marrone left after four seasons to become head coach of the NFL's Buffalo Bills.
