Spartans Roll Over Eastern Michigan, 9-3

YPSILANTI, Mich. - Michigan State baseball took down Eastern Michigan on Wednesday evening at Oestrike Stadium, 9-3. The Spartans (17-8) and Eagles were tied 2-2 heading into the eighth inning but a seven-run inning in favor of MSU broke open the game. Eastern Michigan falls to 12-15 on the season and Michigan State has now won 11 of its last 12 games.

The Spartans trailed 2-1 after two innings and tied the game on an RBI single from Jordan Keur that scored Cam Gibson in the third.

Anthony Misiewicz replaced Mike Theodore after the fourth inning. Theodore allowed six hits and two runs and also had two strikeouts. Misiewicz earned the win for MSU, he threw three innings and gave up just one hit to the Eagles.

Michigan State broke the tie and exploded for seven runs in the eighth inning to pull away from Eastern. Anthony Cheky, Blaise Salter and Jordan Keur each recorded RBI singles and Ryan Richardson added a 2-RBI single. The Eagles hit two Spartan batters and also had two errors in the inning.

Mike Mestdagh relieved Misiewicz in the eighth. He allowed three hits and Eastern added a run in the eighth but no more than that.

MSU out-hit EMU, 12-10 and the Eagles also had four errors in the game. Joe Zwierzynski came in and pitched a scoreless ninth for the Spartans.
Up next, Michigan State will host Michigan on Friday, at McLane Stadium at 3:05 p.m. The Spartans will then travel to Ann Arbor on Saturday, before returning home to face the Wolverines on Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
