Michigan State had another rough road outing on Sunday, as despite taking the opening set, watched Wisconsin rally for three straight set victories in a 3-1 Badger win (25-20, 19-25, 16-25, 18-25). Fifth-ranked MSU drops its second straight contest to fall to 17-3 on the year, and is now 6-2 in the Big Ten. No. 15 Wisconsin improves to 16-4, 5-3 B1G.
Lauren Wicinski had a match-best 16 kills, and added nine digs and four blocks along with two service aces. Alexis Mathews tied her season best with 10 blocks and also contributed five kills, while Kristen Kelsay had 25 assists and Kori Moster 26 digs. Freshman Chloe Reinig also had 12 kills for the Spartans.
The Spartans have a quick turnaround, hosting archrival Michigan on Wednesday at Jenison Field House for the annual “Jam Jenison” game. Start time is 7 p.m.
