EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State volleyball (23-9) received an at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament announced by the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Committee on Sunday, Nov. 25. The Spartans will make their 15th appearance in the tournament and the third in the last four seasons. Michigan State drew San Diego for its first round opponent and the contest is slated for Friday, Nov. 30 at 8:30 p.m. ET. The Spartans and Toreros will play in Los Angeles, Calif., at Pauley Pavilion.

"It's funny my assistant coach all along has been saying that we would get to UCLA and it's sure true," head coach Cathy George said. "We will face San Diego first and the West Coast Conference has had a phenomenal year this year. Haven't seen them a bunch but they are definitely a great team and they just ended the season beating BYU."

The Big Ten conference earned seven selections to the NCAA Tournament, tied with the Pac-12 for the most in the field. San Diego finished second in the West Coast Conference and they advanced six teams in the field.

The Spartans are 2-0 all-time against San Diego and beat the Toreros 3-1 on Sept. 20, 2003.

The winner will face either seventh-seeded UCLA or LIU Brooklyn on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 10 p.m. ET. MSU has never faced the Bruins or the Blackbirds.
