Seniors Go Out In Style With 54-48 Win Over Wisconsin

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Breslin Center careers of the three Michigan State women’s basketball seniors ended on Sunday with a 54-48 victory over Wisconsin. The Spartans, 22-7 overall, finished the Big Ten season at 10-6, in a tie for third place, and will enter the Big Ten Tournament with a first-round bye as the No. 4 seed.

After the game, the three seniors – Tracy Nogle, Courtney Schiffauer and Jasmine Thomas – were honored on the court, recognizing their tremendous careers.

Thomas led the Spartans with 14 points, nine rebounds and three steals in her home finale. Sophomore Kiana Johnson added 10 points and a team-high five assists.

Michigan State never trailed and jumped out to an early 8-2 lead in the first four minutes. The lead grew to 10 on two occasions, before going into the break up 30-23. The Spartans started the second half with a 10-3 run over the first four minutes to go ahead 40-26.Wisconsin answered with eight unanswered points over the next six minutes to get within six. The closest the Badgers would get would be three with 3:20 to go, but the Spartans held them to one point over the final span for the 54-48 final.

The Spartans will play the winner of Michigan and Indiana on Friday night at approximately 9:25 p.m. ET in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament.
