The 39th Ryder Cup golf matches began at Medinah Country Club near Chicago Friday and the score was 2-2 after the morning alternate shot matches. Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell won their match and so did Phil Mickelson/Keegan Bradley for the U. S. Tiger Woods teamed with Steve Stricker and lost but both were playing in the four ball afternoon matches together once again. Eight more matches are due Saturday and 12 singles matches to end the competition Sunday. Weekend play will be seen on NBC and channel ten.
