North Carolina men's basketball coach Roy Williams underwent 3 1/2 hours of surgery Wednesday to remove a tumor from his right kidney. The same procedure may have to be performed down the line on his other kidney depending on whether Wednesday's removal found that the tumor was benign or cancerous. Doctors are not sure yet. Williams is expected to be ready for the start of fall practice after being hospitalized for several days. He's about to begin his tenth season as UNC head coach.
