Red Wings Lose to Washington

Alex Ovechkin scored two power play goals in the first period, leading the Washington Capitals to a 5-3 win Monday night over the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena. The Red Wings have now lost five straight, following an 0-4 Western trip. The Capitals led 3-0 against Detroit goalie Jimmy Howard after one period and 4-1 after two before the Wings cut the deficit to 4-3 midway through the third period.
