Red Sox Rout Tigers

The Boston Red Sox broke away from a 4-4 tie in the 5th inning and went on to rout the Detroit Tigers 20-4 Wednesday night at Fenway Park. The Red Sox won two of three in the series and it's the final time the teams meet in the regular season.
Boston hit eight home runs during a 19-hit night, two by David Ortiz. He also collected his 2,000th career hit. Prince Fielder hit a two run homer for Detroit. The Tigers are off Thursday and open a series in Kansas City Friday. The Red Sox broke the game open with an eight run sixth inning, keyed by Will Middlebrooks' grand slam homer. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion.
