DeWitt Grad and current Spartan golfer Liz Nagel shot an opening round 4 under 68 to take the lead at the 96th Michigan Women's Amateur after 18 holes. Lansing Catholic Junior Jacqueline Setas is tied fro second after shooting a 71. MSU golf coach Stacey Slobodnik-Stoll is in a tie for 7th after her first round 75.
After 36 holes of stroke play the top 36 players will be seeded and play match play until a champion is crowned on Friday. The championship is being held at Forest Akers West.
