The clock is ticking on the possibility of a lockout in the NHL. Commissioner Gary Bettman has said that if a new contract hasn't been agreed to by Saturday at midnight, the owners will make the drastic move. The two sides met individually Thursday and have been in contact at some point Friday.
Meanwhile the Detroit Red Wings signed Justin Abdelkader to a four year extension, goalie Kari Lehtonen signed a five year deal with the Dallas Stars and the Washington Capitals have re-signed defenseman John Carlson to a six year contract.
