Michigan State is ranked 8th in the USA Today/Coaches pre season college football poll released Thursday. It's the highest the Spartans have been ranked in pre season in the history of this poll which dates back to 1991.
Michigan is ranked 8th, and Boise State, MSU's first opponent, is listed as #22. LSU ranks number one and Alabama number two. Wisconsin is 11th and Notre Dame 24th.
