Michigan State basketball coach Tom Izzo announced Tuesday that Derrick Nix and Russell Byrd have been named co captains for the coming season. Both were elected by their teammates. MSU opens its season November 9th in Germany against Connecticut. There are 15 members of the MSU team including four scholarship freshmen. Kenny Kaminski is injured and will likely redshirt. Practice officially begins on Saturday after Midnight Madness is held in the Breslin Center beginning at 9:30pm Friday.
