Top ranked Michigan State lost its first game of the season in men's basketball Wednesday night, dropping a 79-65 decision in the Breslin Center to North Carolina. It was the first home loss to an unranked non conference team in more than a decade. MSU will fall in the polls next week. Carolina is now 5-2 with a win over third ranked Louisville but losses to Belmont and UAB. The Tar Heels never trailed after taking a 20-6 lead. It was 32-32 at halftime and 49-all with 11:35 to play but a 12-1 run late gave Carolina a 65-52 lead and the Tar Heels never looked back. Gary Harris led MSU with 17 points and Adreian Payne scored 12 of his 16 in the first half.
