Whether you've been camped out for days or are new to the race experience, there's something for everyone to enjoy at Michigan International Speedway.

"Old people, young people, we're all having a good time," said Chris Crawford, who's gone to the NASCAR race at MIS for the past 12 years.

He was one of the first to get in line for the infield Sunday, where it's always a good time. But there's a new campground in town, and it's right in the action. It's called Apex, and it's top of the line. Crawford said he'd have to check it out.

"I want to make sure they're not having more fun than me," Crawford said.

That depends on how you define fun. Apex comes equipped with private fireplaces, grills, a meeting area with a fountain, water and electric hook ups, and even a concierge service. Plus, it overlooks turn three.

"We just walk out our door and and we're at the track," said Brian Reid. "It's simply amazing. We're treated like kings and queens out here.

If you're not royalty, there's still a comfortable place to go: the MIS Rookie Pit Stop.

"Fans can come there and learn everything about the sport from where to find a dinger dog here at the track to learning about the scoreboard," said MIS President Roger Curtis. "You can learn about the ins and out of NASCAR and appeciate it more than just the spectacle that it is, and really start to appreciate it and understand it's a sport."

It's a sport that's expected to break records this weekend. Drivers are expected to go faster than ever before because of the new pavement. They're already averaging speeds of above 200 mph.

"The racing is going to be great because the drivers say they feel very comfortable at that speed," Curtis said. "They're going to feel comfortable going 2,3,4 wide, which we're known for here. I think we're going to become NASCAR'S fastest track, and that's really cool."

So, gentlemen, start your engines...

"I'm pumped," Crawford said. "I'm pumped a lot."

MIS has hosted a NASCAR race every June since 1969.
