The Lansing Lugnuts scored early and went on to defeat the Fort Wayne Tin Caps 5-1 Monday night at Cooley Law School Stadium. Lansing won its 79th game of the season setting a franchise record. The Lugnuts are in their 17th year. The teams meet again at 7:05pm Tuesday before the Lugnuts open a three game series in South Bend. The Lugnuts are in the final week of the regular season and clinched a playoff berth by winning their division in the season's first half.
