The Detroit Lions atoned for a 24-6 pre season loss at Cleveland last week with a 40-9 thrashing of the New England Patriots Thursday night at Ford Field. The Patriots committed four turnovers in the first half allowing the Lions to lead 16-3 at the break. Both teams played their starters for the most part in the first half. The Lions improve to 2-1 and finish their pre season next Thursday night at Buffalo against the Bills. The regular season opener is at home September 8th against the Minnesota Vikings.
