Lions About to Sign Stafford to Extension

The Detroit Lions reportedly are close to signing quarterback Matt Stafford to a three year contract extension through the 2017 season. Stafford would get another $53 million. He would average $18 million per year, putting him alongside the pay rate for Dallas Cowboys' quarterback Tony Romo and they both have the same agent. Formal announcement has yet to be made. Stafford becomes a free agent after the 2014 season.
