Lansing Catholic and Dansville Advance But Springport Falls in Semifinals

Springport's softball season came to an end Friday afternoon at bailey Park in battle Creek as they lost to Gladstone 5-4 in a Division 3 softball semifinal. The Spartans head coach JoDee Johnston said her team made too many mistakes to win a state semifinal game. Springport ended their season with a 39-3-and-1 record.

Lansing Catholic's baseball team is back in the state championship game for the first time since 1996 as they handled Mancelona 8-1 in a Division 3 semifinal. The Cougars will face Madison Heights Bishop Foley at 6:30 for the state championship.

In Division 4 softball Dansville advanced to the Division 4 state title game after beating Rapid River 4-3. The Aggies fell behind 3-nothing after the first but never quit battling back to take the lead in the 6th inning. The Aggies will face Petersburg-Summerfield at 5:30 on Saturday in the state championship game.
