Jacob Jarzen Places 12th in 100-meter Fly Semifinals at U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials

OMAHA, Neb. – Michigan State rising senior Jacob Jarzen (Jacksonville, Ill.) finished 12th in the semifinals of the 100-meter fly at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials Saturday night at the CenturyLink Center.

Needing a top-eight finish to reach the finals, Jarzen’s time of 53.05 seconds was 12th among the 16 semifinalists.

Two-time defending Olympic champion Michael Phelps finished first in the 100-meter semifinals with a time of 51.35.

Jarzen advanced to the 100-meter fly semifinals after placing 12th in the preliminary round Saturday morning with a time of 53.12 seconds. The preliminary round featured a total of 122 qualifiers.
