Former Michigan Stater Brian Hoyer has been named the starting quarterback for the NFL's Arizona Cardinals in this season's final game at San Francisco. The Cardinals have a 5-10 record and are heavy underdogs. Hoyer joined the Cardinals for the last game, a loss at home to the Chicago Bears. He played the final half and completed 11 of 19 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown.
Hoyer was cut after the pre season by the New England Patriots where he spent three seasons backing up Tom Brady. He spent two weeks this season in Pittsburgh with the Steelers because Ben Roethliesberger was injured and a back up was needed for Charlie Batch. He is unsigned for 2013. Hoyer's final season at Michigan State was 2008.
