Harris Named Big Ten Freshman Of The Week

Michigan State freshman guard Gary Harris earned his second Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor of the season, the conference office announced Monday, Dec. 10. In two games last week, Harris averaged 16.5 points, shooting .600 from the field and .545 from 3-point range.

Against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Harris led MSU with 13 points, on 5-of-9 shooting, adding three steals, two assists and two rebounds. He followed with a season-high 20-point effort against Loyola-Chicago, knocking down 7-of-11 shots, including 5-of-7 from 3-point range. He was especially efficient in the second half, connecting on all five shots, including all four from behind the arc.

On the season, Harris ranks second on the Spartans in scoring at 13.0 ppg, shooting .533 from the field and .394 from 3-point range. He ranks second among all Big Ten freshmen in scoring.

Previously, Harris earned his first Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor on Nov. 19.
