Grand Ledge Bows Out of Tournament

Defending state champion Grand Haven won its 48th straight game Tuesday, defeating Grand Ledge 43-35 at Lansing Eastern's Don Johnson Fieldhouse. The game was a quarter-final in the class A portion of the girls state high school basketball tournament. Abbie Cole, who finished 2nd in the Miss Basketball voting this week, led the winners with 18 points-- Lindsay Orwat had 20 for the Comets, who finish 21-5. Grand Ledge trailed 17-16 at halftime and tied the game at 34-all in the fourth quarter but could never take the lead. Grand Haven moves on to the class A semi-finals at 1pm Friday in the Breslin Center.
