Gates Brown Dies

The Detroit Tigers announced Friday that their former pinch hitting great Gates Brown has died at the age of 74. No further details are available. Brown is a native of Crestline, Ohio. He played his entire 13 year major league career with the Tigers, beginning in 1963. He served as the team's hitting coach in 1984, the year the Tigers won the World Series.
