Jim Furyk fired a 7 under par 63 to take the first round lead at the SGC Bridgestone Invitational golf tournament at the Firestone South course in Akron, Ohio. Furyk leads England's Lee Slattery by two shots and a six others are three back at four under par including Bubba Watson and Luke Donald. Tiger Woods bogeyed the final hole for an even par 70. The tournament is in advance of next week's final major, the PGA Championship.
