Former MSU Football Great Dies

Michigan State University announced Wednesday that former football great Allen Brenner has died in Clinton, North Carolina at the age of 64 after an extended illness. Brenner, a receiver, came out of Niles, Michigan High School and played for Duffy Daugherty, starting as a sophomore on the 1966 unbeaten team. By his senior year in '68, Brenner was first team all Big Ten. He played two years in the NFL with the New York Giants and seven more years in the Canadian League. He is survived by his wife and three children. A memorial service will be held at a later date and burial is set for Berrien Springs, Michigan. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion.
