Former Detroit Red Wing Shawn Burr died at a Detroit hospital Monday night at the age of 47. Burr had been battling cancer but he died from a weekend fall at home in which he hit his head although no official cause of death has been announced. Burr was the Red Wings' 7th overall pick in the 1984 NHL draft. He played 878 NHL games and scored 20 goals for the Red Wings in the 1989-90 season.
