The Detroit Lions Tuesday named Lansing Everett's Marcelle Carruthers the state high school football coach of the week. Carruthers is in his 13th season as Everett head coach and the Vikings have a 4-0 record heading into Friday's 7pm game against Eastern. Carruthers wins $2,000 for Everett's football program and he will be honored alongside other weekly winners at the Lions' home game December 30th against the Chicago Bears.
In addition, Carruthers is eligible for the state coach of the year award and if he wins it, Everett would get another $4,000.
