EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan State expects to have a dominant defense this season and showed why in the Green and White game on Saturday.
With defensive ends William Gholston and Marcus Rush and outside linebacker Denicos Allen leading the way, yards and points were tough to come by as the White team prevailed 14-2 in the Spartans' spring game.
Gholston, expected to be one of the nation's top pass rushers, had two tackles for loss, including a stop of running back Nick Hill for a safety and the game's first points late in the second quarter.
Gholston finished the game on the sideline with an ice bag on a bruised right knee.
