Deacon Jones, who was credited with coming up with the term "sacks", has died at age 74 at his Southern California home of natural causes. Jones was inducted into the pro football hall of fame in 1980. He was a key defensive end on the Los Angeles Rams Fearsome Foursome unit from 1961-71. He played for San Diego and Washington after that, retiring following the 1974 season. Jones was a member of the NFL's 75th anniversary all time team.
