The teams traded baskets until the Comets surged ahead by 15, 32-17, at halftime.

Olivet opened the second half with a 6-0 run to stretch its lead to 21 points. The Hornets got a three-pointer to make the score, 38-20, but they would not get any closer for the rest of the game. The Comets led by as many as 34 points, 69-35, with 1:58 left in the game.

For the game, Olivet shot 40 percent (26-of-65) to 23 percent (14-of-61) for Kalamazoo. The Comets had a 55-33 advantage in rebounding, and turned the ball over two less times.
