Cabrera Wins MVP Award

Detroit Tigers' slugger Miguel Cabrera was named the American League's most valuable player for the last season Thursday night. Cabrera had 22 of 28 first place votes from the baseball writers. Mike Trout of the Angels was second in the voting. Cabrera hit .,331 this past season with 44 home runs in capturing the first triple crown since Carl Yasatrzemski of the Boston Red Sox in 1967. Buster Posey of the San Francisco Giants became the first catcher since Johnny Bench in 1972 to be named National League MVP.
