Bach New Head Of IOC

German lawyer Thomas Bach is the new president ofr the International Olympic Committee, succeeding Jacques Rogge, who is retiring. The 59-year old Bach defeated five rivals by winning a majority in the second round of balloting. Bach continues Europe's hold on the presidency. Of thye IOC's nine leaders, all have come from Europe except for Avery Brudage, the American who ran the committee from 1952-72.
Bach is the first Olympic gold medalist to become IOC president. He won gold in team fencing for West Germany in 1976. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules:
