Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez announced Thursday he will coach the Badgers' New Year's Day Rose Bowl game against Stanfdord. Alvarez says the team captains asked him to do it while he looks for a replacement for departed Bret Bielema. Alvarez says he insisted the players work toward winning the game. Bielema is the new head coach at Arkansas. Alvarez won two Rose Bowl games for the Badgers during his career and he stepped down seven seasons ago making way for Bielema, his two year assistant.
