Abdelkader Signs Extension With Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings have signed Justin Abdelkader to a four year contract extension. The 25-year old Abdelkader playe din a career high 81 games last season and scored 8 goals and had 14 assists. Abdelkader led Michigan State to the 2007 NCAA championship. But Abdelkader doesn't know when he'll start drawing paychecks since the NHL players are due to be locked out at midnight Saturday and there is no end in sight to the current labor impasse with NHL owners.
