ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- The Detroit Tigers have placed left-hander Kenny Rogers on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation in his elbow. The move was made retroactive to Thursday.
Rogers is 3-and-2 with a five-23 E-R-A in just six starts this season. The four-time All-Star missed the Tigers' first 71 games after undergoing surgery on March 30th to remove a blood clot from his left shoulder and repair arteries. This the third time the 42-year-old has been on the D-L in his 19-year big league career.
Rogers has allowed 17 earned runs in his last three starts, spanning just 15 and a third innings.
Jordan Tata will be recalled from Triple-A Toledo tomorrow to make his first big league start against the Oakland Athletics in Rogers' place.
