Former Lansing Everett star Derrick Nelson scored a career high 36 points to lead Oakland to a 76-64 Summit Conference tournament title win Tuesday night over IUPUI. The game was played in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Nelson added 9 rebounds and hit 15 of 23 shots from the field. Okemos' Johnathon Jones had 4. Oakland is now 26-8 on the season and will play in the NCAA tournament for only the second time, 2005 being the Golden Grizzlies' previous appearance.
