DETROIT (AP) -- Red Wings general manager Ken Holland remains cautiously optimistic about re-signing goaltender Dominik Hasek before free agency begins at noon tomorrow.
Holland says conversations continue between both sides, but no deal has been finalized.
The 42-year-old Hasek told the Red Wings two weeks ago that he wanted to play for Detroit again.
The six-time Vezina Trophy winner and two-time N-H-L M-V-P had signed a one-year contract worth 750-thousand dollars last season. He also had earned 900-thousand dollars in bonuses for helping Detroit advance past the second round for the first time since 2002.
The Wings also are trying to work out deals with defenseman Mathieu Schneider and forward Todd Bertuzzi.
