DETROIT (AP) -- The Tigers played the perfect host tonight and were shut out by the visiting Mets three-to-nothing.
David Wright and Carlos Delgado homered for the New York, who added an insurance run in the ninth.
The Tigers were stymied much of the night, collecting only four hits off Mets starter and winning pitcher Jorge Sosa. Sosa struck out five and walked two.
Tiger starter Chad Durbin fell to five-and-two, giving up three runs on six hits in eight-plus innings. Durbin struck out four and walked one in his longest outing since April 25th.
The Mets were playing at Comerica Park for the first time ever. They had not traveled to Detroit since 1997, when interleague play began.
