Softball Swings at A Cure

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State and University of Michigan softball programs will team up to present the first annual Strike Out Breast Cancer series, held in conjunction with their Big Ten home-and-home series this Saturday and Sunday (May 5-6). Game one will be played in East Lansing at Old College Field on Saturday at 1 p.m., before the series moves to Ann Arbor for the regular-season finale on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Alumni Field. Proceeds from the Michigan State side will benefit the Sparrow Health Systems Regional Cancer Center. Both games of the series will also be broadcast live on Comcast, and free live audio will be provided via with Scott Moore handling play-by-play duties.

Lupe Izzo, wife of Michigan State men's basketball coach Tom Izzo, along with daughter Raquel, will throw out the first pitch of Saturday's game in East Lansing. She has been involved on the national level with Coaches vs. Cancer, and also locally with the Sparrow Foundation, in the fight against cancer.

Both teams will wear pink socks and pink jerseys trimmed in their respective school colors. There will be an auction held at each school for their respective team jerseys.

At Saturday's game in East Lansing, the first 150 fans wearing pink will receive a free gift, while other raffle prizes at the game include: a gift card to Wheat Jewelers, a Pizza House coupon, T-shirts, MSU headphones, and much more!

"Strikeout Breast Cancer" T-shirts will be on sale for $10, with a portion of the earnings donated to the Sparrow Regional Cancer Center.

Parking is available at Jenison Field House and tickets for the game will be available at the gate.
