EAST LANSING, Mich. — Community members are encouraged to show their support of the East Lansing Soccer Complex’s ongoing fourth phase of improvements at a special Inaugural Lights Game on Friday, April 13 at 6:30 p.m.

The East Lansing High School girls’ varsity soccer team will take on Petoskey High School in the first game played under the Complex’s newly lighted field. A post-game celebration will commence at Reno’s following the event, where local rock ‘n’ roll band, Lost Marbles, will put on a show for Complex supporters. The live entertainment is free and open to the public.

“The Finishing Touch” Fundraising Campaign

While the East Lansing Soccer Complex’s fourth phase of improvements has substantially moved along thanks to the generosity of East Lansing community members, the East Lansing Soccer Club and the City of East Lansing, funding is still very much needed to round out the project. In addition to the installation of lighting on one field, additional bleacher seating and construction of covered team benches and scorer’s tables (completed last fall), the fourth phase still calls for various other improvements, including a new press box, a team shelter area/building and an admission/entry booth to the stadium area.

Since the development of the complex in 1998, the City of East Lansing has diligently worked with the community to provide continuous enhancements to the user-friendly soccer facility. Three successful community-based fundraising drives have already provided a concession/restroom building with attached pavilion, perimeter fencing, scoreboards, bleacher seating, uncovered player bench areas and concrete walkways to the complex to date. Campaign organizers and the City of East Lansing are now looking to put the “finishing touches” on the nine-year project through the fourth phase of enhancements.

Community members interested in contributing to “The Finishing Touch” fundraising campaign are welcome to contact fundraising coordinator Amy Uecker at (517) 351-4621.
