It began as a day filled with football talk and parties across Ohio State's campus.

Things quickly turned somber as word of the death of former Michigan coach Bo Schembechler reached Columbus.

There will be a moment of silence before tomorrow's game between the top-ranked Buckeyes and the number-two Wolverines.

Ohio State coach Jim Tressel calls Schembechler's death this morning from heart failure an extraordinary loss for college football.

Tressel says Schembechler, "Will always be both a Buckeye and a Wolverine."

The Barberton, Ohio native was an assistant coach at Ohio State under legendary Buckeyes coach Woody Hayes. Schembechler was head coach at Miami of Ohio before taking over at Michigan in 1969.
