BOWLING GREEN CONSIDERING DROPPING HOCKEY

Media reports indicate Bowling Green is considering dropping hockey. The CCHA schools lost $750,000 in athletics in the last year and the school president says it can't continue. She dropped hockey at Kent State when she was president there in 1994.
Bowling Green hockey is 40 years old and the school won the 1984 national championship. Ron Mason coached there before coming to Michigan State. Bowling Green has finished last in the CCHA in three of the last four seasons and plans to renovate the ancient ice arena have been scrapped. Bowling Green has not yet made a final decision.
